Our range of melting furnaces consists of two main types: gas-fired models and electric models. Which type suits you depends on the metals you melt and the quantity you process at a time.

The two types differ mainly in maximum temperature, capacity and operation. Both are available in various sizes, for the hobbyist and for professional use.

Gas-fired melting furnaces

Gas-fired melting furnaces run on propane and reach high temperatures of up to 1,450 °C. This allows you to melt gold, silver, copper, aluminium, brass, bronze and tin. You can choose from portable melting furnaces with one burner starting at 4 kg and powerful models with four burners that handle crucibles up to 30 kg.

You need a propane cylinder to use them. If a part wears out after years of use, you can replace individual gas burners without having to buy a whole new furnace.

Electric melting furnaces

Electric melting furnaces are made for melting precious metals and alloys. Models such as the GC1100, GC1200 and GC1300 process 1 to 3 kg and reach up to 1,120 °C, more than enough for gold, silver, brass and bronze.

You set the temperature precisely with an electronic controller and read the value on the display. A suitable crucible comes standard with the furnace. The capacity is enough for jewelry, small castings, and precious metal repairs.

Because an electric melting furnace has no open flame, working indoors is often easier. These models are compact and portable, ideal for a small workshop or for the silversmith who wants to work with precision.

What should you look for when buying a melting furnace?

When buying a melting furnace, you mainly look at four points: the metal you are melting, the capacity, the maximum temperature, and the fuel. Non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, and bronze melt well below 1,200 °C, while larger quantities of metal require more capacity.

Gas heats up faster and reaches higher temperatures; electric gives you more precise control. Also consider the matching casting molds and tongs, so you can handle the molten metal safely.

Finally, pay attention to the space in your workshop and to good ventilation, especially with a gas furnace. A heavier furnace also requires a sturdier surface and more storage.
