Description
The middle crucible size in the range, complete with the matching tools. You get the 1.4-litre A8 ceramic crucible, the matching crucible tongs and the pouring tongs.
The crucible
Ceramic, 1.4 litres, with a pouring spout and made in Germany. The crucible heats up quickly, conducts heat evenly and produces little slag. It has good resistance to chemical stress and the model is intended for gas melting furnaces.
Use
If you have just received the crucible or it has been standing unused for a long time, heat it for two hours at 200 °C. This drives the moisture out of the ceramic before you bring it up to temperature. Clean the crucible before and after every use.
The tongs
The A8 crucible tongs have sturdy gripping jaws and are matched to this crucible size. You use the pouring tongs when pouring out. The right size of tongs for the right crucible is not a detail but a matter of safety.
