Description
The largest crucible of the three packages: 2.4 litres, good for a 15 kg melt. At that mass, the tools become just as important as the crucible itself, so the matching crucible tongs and pouring tongs are included.
The crucible
Ceramic, 2.4 litres, made in Germany and fitted with a pouring spout. Fast heat-up time, even heat conduction, little slag and good resistance to chemical stress. Suitable for use in the gas melting furnace.
Use
If you have just received the crucible or it has been unused for a long time, heat it for two hours at 200 °C. This drives the moisture out of the ceramic before you bring it up to temperature. Clean the crucible before and after every use.
The tongs
The A15 crucible tongs have a tong diameter of 180 mm and a jaw height of about 210 mm, matched to this crucible. You use the pouring tongs at the moment of pouring.
