Our range of workshop extraction for blacksmiths

Our range of workshop extraction for blacksmiths focuses on the smoke from your forge fire, not on wood dust or welding fumes. You can choose from three solutions: chimney fans on the outlet, inline duct fans in the ductwork, and flue gas extraction using natural draught.

Which solution suits you depends on the number of fires you have, your power supply, and the layout of your workshop. The fans are made from 1.4404 stainless steel or heat-resistant coated steel, built for hot flue gases.

Chimney fans for extraction

Chimney fans handle extraction at the top of the chimney and actively draw the smoke outside. You mount them on the chimney outlet and fold them open for cleaning.

We carry a square model (HF) and a round model (RH), both in 1.4404 stainless steel and available in 230V or 400V. The smallest versions handle around 900 m³ of air per hour for a single forge fire.

Larger chimney fans reach around 3,000 m³ per hour for a workshop with four to six hearths. That way you match the capacity to the number of fires you run at the same time.

Inline duct fans for your extraction system

You install inline duct fans in the ductwork of your extraction system, between the hearth and the outlet. The R series is suitable for setups with one, two, or three forge fires, with a duct connection of 250 or 300 mm.

The average operating point lies between 800 and 3,000 m³ per hour, with a maximum air flow of up to 5,000 m³ per hour on the heaviest model. Motors range from 0.25 kW for a single forge to 1.5 kW for three fires.

The housing of an inline duct fan is made from 1.4404 stainless steel or heat-resistant coated steel, so the fan can handle the hot flue gases.

Flue gas extraction for natural draught

Flue gas extraction manages extraction through natural draught, without a fan. These flues are intended for a single forge hearth or a field forge and are mounted on the hearth or on the wall.

The field forge model has a ø180 mm pipe connection and measures 595 by 480 by 890 mm. The version for a fixed forge hearth works with ø250 mm and an outlet with a damper.

Extraction system for your forge fire in the workshop

An extraction system for your forge fire in the workshop works best with the outlet directly above the fire, so the smoke is drawn away immediately. You mount the fan on the chimney or in the duct, with the opening above the hearth.

Below the fire, a blower provides the air supply that keeps your coals up to temperature. Supply from below and extraction from above complement each other in a clean, workable setup.

When setting things up, count on roughly 900 m³ per hour per hearth. If you connect several fires to one duct, add up the capacities and choose a fan that can handle that total.

What should you look out for when buying extraction for the workshop?

When buying extraction for the workshop, pay close attention to the number of forge fires you have, because that determines the capacity you need. One hearth requires about 900 m³ per hour; with several hearths that rises to 3,000 m³ per hour.

Also check your power connection: 230V for a single setup, 400V for heavier work with several fires. A square HF fan and a round RH fan do the same job, so choose the shape that suits your chimney.

Finally, look at the material and the pipe connection. Stainless steel 1.4404 lasts the longest, and the 250 or 300 mm connection has to fit your existing duct.
