Complete sand casting package

Sand casting takes more than just sand. You need a moulding box, a release agent, a sieve to get the right consistency, and tools to handle the metal. This kit brings those five components together.

What's in the kit

• Casting sand: withstands up to roughly 900 °C and can be reused several times as long as the binder still works
• Moulding box 100 x 200 x 100 mm: two-part design, each half 50 mm high, welded construction with matching bolts
• Talcum powder: for lubricating, talc coating and dusting, and for preventing rust on metal surfaces
• Sieve: separates sand and clay from stones and metal particles
• Application spatula 220 mm: forged steel, with a spoon end and a cutting end
• Paling iron 190 mm: shapes molten metal over a die or mould

About the moulding box

The bottom half is grooved so air can pass through. This limits heat build-up during melting and makes emptying it afterwards easier.

The top half has a lip and drilled holes. Use these to secure open-ended punches or dies, so you keep both hands free while pouring. Four rubber feet protect your work surface.

Please note

Mixing with talcum powder, thermal stress that causes the oil to separate, and ageing can all affect the composition. Sand that has been mixed with talc is best not reused.
