Description
At 125 kg, this is the heaviest RIDGID anvil in the range, and the only one with an upsetting block. The face measures 300 by 130 mm and the horn is 210 mm long, so you can handle both larger flat work and curves and bends.
Material and hardness
A cast anvil is cheaper to produce, but it breaks more easily and has less rebound. This anvil is forged from steel, which makes it considerably stronger and more durable. The top face is also machined and hardened, so it's still flat after years of use.
That means you can forge both hard and softer types of steel on it without damaging the face.
Hardy hole and upsetting block
Where the 35 kg model only has a face and horn, this anvil comes with a hardy hole. That's where you secure hardy tools, which greatly expands the number of operations you can perform on the anvil.
This is also the only model in the range with an upsetting block, sometimes called a swage block or saddle block. That's where you place stakes, accessories, and bick irons. For projects involving many consecutive operations, it saves you from constantly changing your setup.
