Description
A fullering iron shapes molten metal over an object, usually a die or mold. A classic example: in hand-forged nail work, you use it to shape the head of a railroad spike. The tool has been around since ancient times and is still in use today. It's cheap to make, easy to maintain, and works with any material that can take heat, as long as it isn't too thick.
There are three sizes. All three are made of forged steel and have a lance end and a scoop end.
Fullering Iron L11, 230 mm
The largest of the three, with a lance tip of 65 by 25 mm and a scoop tip of 57 by 25 mm. You use it to fuse metal objects together, join rivets, or secure pieces of iron that need to be hammered and shaped. Also handy for making machine parts where strength matters.
Fullering Iron L12, 190 mm
The mid-size option, with a lance end and a scoop end. The shaft is smoothly polished and the handle is ergonomically shaped, which is comfortable during longer jobs.
Fullering Iron L13, 150 mm
The smallest one, with a lance section of 30 by 17 mm and a scoop section of 27 by 13 mm. Intended for work where you're close to your workpiece and need little leverage.
