Description

The H2 sits between the H1 and the H3: two burners, 38 kg and a combustion chamber measuring 324 x 240 x 100 mm. For most workshops that's the size where you get enough chamber length without the gas bill of the largest model.

Use and applications

You can use it to heat various metals so you can work them afterwards: casting, bending, punching, welding, tempering or making horseshoes. The door can be closed.

Safety

APPLUS, the General Laboratory for Testing and Research, issued regulation RD919/2006 for this forge. Four components carry that approval; the product image shows where they are located.

  • Automatic electric ignition: lighting is done electrically, without tools and without having to put your hands near the combustion chamber
  • Integrated gas system: the gas components sit protected within the forge structure and therefore don't take any knocks that could cause leaks
  • Thermocouple safety valve: as soon as the combustion chamber cools down due to a fault, the gas is cut off
  • Non-return valve: directs the gas flow in one direction and keeps the cylinder out of harm's way

Insulation and emissions

The insulation consists of compacted vermiculite: natural, not harmful to health, free of glass fibres or ceramics and leaving no residual waste when recycled. Inside there is also a vermiculite coating.

The forge emits 0.002% carbon monoxide. The APPLUS Technology Centre certified that value; in a normal environment it lies between 0 and 2.

Fuel consumption

On a 35 kg propane cylinder the H2 runs for roughly 50 hours, exactly between the 100 hours of the H1 and the 35 hours of the H3. Consumption is a quarter of that of comparable forges, a saving of 75%.

All the propane that reaches the combustion chamber is burned, with no residual gas. The burners are designed and manufactured by Nargesa itself.

Operation

If you have just received the forge, or if it has been standing idle for a long time, heat it for two hours at 200 °C. This removes the moisture from the refractory bricks before you start working at temperature.
