Our range of anvils

Our anvil range includes both forged and cast models in a variety of European shapes. You can choose from the Bohemian pattern, the South and North German patterns, and forged steel anvils. Brands such as Kanca, RIDGID and Peddinghaus sit alongside our own models, so there's a suitable anvil ready for every skill level and every workshop.

Every anvil has a hardened face that returns your hammer's energy instead of absorbing it. Good rebound saves you blows and spares your arm. Besides individual models, we also supply the matching forging tongs and accessories to complete your workshop.

Anvils with one or two horns

Anvils come with one or two horns, and that difference determines how you round and bend. A model with a single round horn covers most forging work: hooks, scrolls and knives. A two-horned anvil also has a square horn, handy for corners and sharp transitions in ornamental ironwork.

Besides the horns, look at the round pritchel hole and the square hardy hole in the face. That's where you fit accessories such as a cut-off block or a fuller. If you're unsure about the shape, we'll act as your guide in the forging trade and help you choose one that suits your work.

What anvil weight do you need?

The weight of your anvil depends on the work you do and how often you stand at it. For light projects and beginners, a small anvil between 20 and 50 kg is plenty: enough mass for hooks, bottle openers and small knives. If you want to work heavier and for longer, go for a model over 100 kg for more stability and less rebound.

A rule of thumb: the heavier the anvil, the more efficient your hammer blow. The mass absorbs the impact, so the energy stays in your workpiece instead of leaking away.
